Rabbit Hutches

We will make indoor and outdoor rabbit hutches for you at Ksh 600 per hutch with your materials.

For breeding, you need a minimum of 4 hutches, where 1 hutch keeps 5 rabbits. Most males will get slaughtered by 4-5 months of age, and females grow together to 6 months productive maturity, after which the breeders selected get to live in individual hutches with their litter, with additional hutches if you don’t slaughter them off as well.

For construction guidance, build 3 hutches for every 1 Doe kept as breeding stock. Use the extra 2 hutches to house in 1 hutch the male kits and the other the female kits. And repeat for each new litter.

Based off this guide then, the number of hutches you need will be equal to the number of rabbit breeder mothers you wish to keep multiplied by 3. Also consider your budget. Expect to spend 3800 sh give or take per fully furnished hutch in accessories and materials, besides the construction fee.

We’re based in Kiserian Town, Kajiado County, but we come to construct the hutches where you are!

✅ If you’re within 4 hours’ drive, we’ll travel to and from your location to work on-site if you can fuel our car as a full construction crew.
✅ If you’re further away, or don’t wish to fuel our car, you can cover the round-trip matatu fare and one or few days’ accommodation for one of our carpenters. You’ll source for us 2 or 3 local assistant carpenters who we’ll pay ourselves to help with the work.

We offer two main options:

1. We supply everything (materials, ALL accessories + labour).

2. We provide a bill of quantities (BOQ), you buy the materials & accessories, and we provide labour only.

⚠️ If you’re only hiring one carpenter, only the second option applies.

Before we send our carpenter, we can:

2a. Share the BOQ for you to purchase in your neighbourhood.

2b. Parcel any hutch accessories you’d like to buy from us ahead of time, where an advance shipping will be fitting.

How many hutches do you need?
Here are examples of setups to guide you:

4 Hutches – 1 buck, 1 doe, 10 outgrowers (Absolute beginner setup).

9 Hutches – 1 buck, 2–3 does, 25 outgrowers.

15, 18, 24…1,000 and on! As needed hutches.

Each breeding doe needs at least 4 hutches (for her, a buck, and space for male/female offspring separately).
